About Us
The Tourism Industry Council is a broadly based, apolitical, lobbying and advocacy organisation that is membership based.
Our charter is to provide a unified and strong voice for the tourism industry in the Australian Capital Territory and broader Capital Region and to advance the tourism industry in status, performance and profitability.
In the ACT & Region, tourism is emerging as one of the most important and dynamic industries. As a major force shaping the economic, social and environmental future of the ACT and region it is therefore essential for the tourism industry to have a strong and united voice to represent the interests of the industry to Government and community.
Tourism:
■ is the largest private sector industry in the region
■ employs more than 11,000 people
■ contributes in excess of $1 billion directly towards the ACT economy each year
